Reverse osmosisThe reverse osmosis process, developed by US government, is considered among the greatest technological break through of this century. Following World War II, the US government began investing hundreds of millions of dollars to determine the best methods of treating drinking water. Today, reverse osmosis remains the most viable and economical method of fully treating our drinking water. The reverse osmosis process utilizes a semi permeable cross flow membrane to remove and reject a wide spectrum of impurities from water, using only water pressure. In cross flow, the influent or "feed" stream is separated into two effluent streams; the "permeate", which passes through the membrane, and the "concentrate," which retains the dissolved and suspended solids rejected by the membrane. Advantages of cross-flow design are self-cleaning, low energy requirement, and precise fluid separations at ionic, molecular and macromolecular levels. Please see attached chart for more information.
UV & Ozone technologyUltraviolet energy is produced by a low- pressure mercury lamp, which has a special glass formula to allow the passage of a light ray 1/100,000 inch long, which is expressed as 2537Å (angstrom units). Ultraviolet light rays have the unique property of killing microorganisms. They strike virus, bacteria, mould, yeast, or algae and break through out membrane to modify the genetic code of the DNA. The modified code brings about the destruction of the organism. Ozone kills microorganisms with a process known as "cellular lysis". In the oxidation process, ozone ruptures the cellular membrane of the microorganism and disperses the bacterial cytoplasm into solution, thus making reactivation impossible. Ozone is used in disinfecting bacteria and viruses, controlling taste and odour, controlling algae growth, and the oxication of inorganic and organic materials. It is also used as an aid to coagulation prior to the injection of chemicals.
Water softeningMany water supplies contain hardness minerals (calcium and magnesium). These minerals form a scale and create problems in water heaters, washing machines, dishwashers, coffee makers, humidifiers, and plumbing systems. The modern and efficient water conditioning systems remove calcium and magnesium from your water supply by filtering it through a resin-softening medium. Salt or potassium is used to revitalize the system periodically to provide soft water for your daily needs.
